Another 'what if' story. My mind does tend to wander in the direction of that split second, when something else could've occurred instead of what we know did happen. I think I like the idea that there is a differing universe out there that develops from all those choices or decisions or that turn that we didn't make in our life.

The Hero's Return The hero will always come home.

It was a standard rule, wasn't it? In all the fantasy stories he had read as a kid, the hero always survived. There would be the moment when the crowd held their breath or mourned their loss—but then the hero would come up from behind the hill, bruised, but otherwise fine. And everyone would cheer and celebrate the return of their champion.

Leonard McCoy was no hero.

He knew that for him there would be no sudden twist, no big turnaround when he was injured. When he lost, he would lose. There would be no need for his friends to wait for him. He would die and that was it. He just wasn't a hero.

The current icon is a bit pixelated because the original image had to be reduced in size and could no longer be animated.
I'll be working on a new icon that will be really spiffy and appealing to the eye.
